Chris Holmes MBE

Featured Ambassador

We are very pleased to introduce Chris Holmes MBE as an Accentuate Ambassador. Chris will be familiar to many of you as one of Britain's most successful Paralympic swimmers ever, winning 9 gold medals, 6 at a single games, and breaking 35 world records. He has been a Board member at UK Sport since 2005 and was a Commissioner on the board of the Disability Rights Commission from 2002-2007, as well as practicing at a leading City international law firm. In 2009 Chris was appointed London 2012 Director of Paralympic Integration at LOCOG, where he will lead on all aspects of London 2012's planning and organisation for the Paralympic Games.

Chris says: " I am really pleased to act as an ambassador for Accentuate. One of my priorities is ensuring that we educate audiences to ensure that London 2012 is the most successful Paralympic Games possible, I think there is a direct link to Accentuate's work in creating a shift in perceptions across the cultural sector. I have been interested to learn about how Accentuate seeks to apply the lessons from sport to other sectors and vice versa. Accentuate strives to be ground-breaking and do things in new ways, I think they are succeeding in this aim."

Accentuate is delighted to welcome Chris as an ambassador and to have his support for our approach to creating a cultural shift in the way disability is viewed. Chris's work on the London 2012 Paralympic Games gives a direct link to the inspiration behind the Accentuate programme and his jaw-dropping sports achievements embody the Accentuate ideals of quality and professionalism at the highest levels.
